What kind of masks are a good option

Wearing an N95 mask produced by reliable health care providers or manufactured in N95 mask factories is your best shot. As advised by CDC, it is important to use only N95 dust masks from the reputed manufacturer to combat and accomplish the clean-up process to the end line.

Only wear an N95 mask which is properly certified by the NIOSH that can filter particles even those which are not visible to the human eye. On the mask or box, look for the NIOSH logo and the test and certification (TC) approval number. Masks are not certified by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), so they may not provide enough protection. Masks can often be found at your local hardware store or utility centre.

Gaseous emissions: Avoid using N95 masks
N95 masks do not protect against chemical vapours, harmful gases, and asbestos, as it is principally designed for particles that are moisture-free.

N95 dust masks: Conduct dust operations
Employers in charge of flood clean-up and restoration work may be required to have a thorough respirator programme that includes proper training, fitting test, and medical level approval. These masks must be worn appropriately and have a tight seal against the face to give full protection. For use and seal inspection, follow the manufacturer's instructions. N95 masks do not protect against any form of gases or vapours of any sort leaked from cleaners, paints, or oil spills as such. They also don't protect you from asbestos.

What kind of N95 dust mask works fine?

1. Most of the time, these N95 dusk masks are available in hardware stores as they are sent in bulk from N95 mask factories. Before you pay, make sure that the N95 mask has a NIOSH marking on it.

2. But using any other than N95 or other NIOSH label while in a dust-prone area has a lot of risk to it. As N95 is the only mask that can fit you properly other than other masks. No matter how small is the particle, it will not get around the mask edges and enter the nose or mouth.

How do use N95 masks in the best way?

1. Because these N95 dusk masks are shipped in bulk from N95 mask makers, they are usually available at hardware stores. Make sure the N95 mask has a NIOSH mark on it before you pay.

2. Examine the mask for rips or other defects. If the mask is crumpled, delicately peel it with your fingers by the chin and nose areas of the mask.

3. Place your fingertips over the nosepiece and place the mask on your face. Allow the straps to naturally hang below your hand.

4. Make sure the nosepiece is pointing upwards while wearing the mask. When you're finished, pull the top strap over your head and set it high at the centre of the head.

5. Place the bottom strap over your neck and below your ears after pulling it over your head. Make sure the straps aren't crisscrossed and that the mask covers your lips and nose.

6. If you have a metal nose strip, mould it to the contour of your nose with the fingers of both hands. Before each use, double-check the mask's seal to your face. Take a rapid, deep breath in and out with both hands totally covering the front of the mask (pictured right).
